COMMON ISSUES & EXPIRY
- Many units enter terminal full alarm state spontaneously without any actual trigger.
- The soft plastic bracket cover is prone to becoming dislodged easily.
- A growing number of units develop terminal faults within 2–3 years of installation, even though the model was initially reliable.
- In 2025, there was a marked increase in service calls and replacement requests, especially in newer homes with hard-wired interconnection systems.
- The product has been pulled from the market.
These recurring problems have caused significant inconvenience for homeowners.

Our Opinion
GSM Electronics are an established supplier of a limited range of smoke alarm models into the Australian market. While GSME has been diligent in handling warranty replacements throughout 2025, the frequency and nature of the faults suggest this BESMOKEY4 model is no longer a dependable long-term choice. Many clients have switched to alternative models as a result. Given the rising failure rate, spontaneous alarms, and market withdrawal, we no longer recommend this BESMOKEY4 model for new installations or as a reliable replacement option.
